Martha Vs AI
Love and hate are only a step away
I spent a weekend whingeing-ranting-slating ChatGPT, that’s enough. Then, the following Monday, I moved on and we were friends again. Love–hate–love. The soap opera had begun.
There’s more to AI than ChatGPT, I know. These initial episodes on Substack are about this specific tool, as it’s the one that triggered all the drama.
Now, let’s imagine the soap opera intro: summer music playing in the background, ChatGPT flipping its hair in the breeze (if it even has any), and Martha jogging along the beach to meet him. We do a secret clap salute, and then we start plotting.
If I can’t win against the machine, I’ll join forces with it.
After several chats, requests, and some customisation, ‘we’ created a plan to learn AI skills while running creative experiments. As ChatGPT would say: “A Daily Microlearning Plan to Future-Proof Your Creative Edge from conceptual copywriter to AI-driven brand strategist and creative innovator.”
Only a machine could say that without breathing or using commas. I call it: adapting.

The ‘Secret’ Plan That’s Not So Secret
So far, I’m really enjoying squeezing my two hours of learning into the day. If you fancy joining in, send me a message and I’ll share my “Secret Plan”. Some links work, some don’t… but we’re winging it, right?
The Telenovela Unfolds
Would Martha manage to upskill in time?
Team AI or Team Martha… where do you stand?
Are they really friends, or is betrayal coming?
Will the “Secret Plan” actually work… or is she setting herself up for chaos?
And honestly, do we need a visual for the “telenovela”? I vote yes. I tried Gemini and ChatGPT at generating images, same prompt and clearly I have a winner. Gemini 1 - ChatGPT 0.
Next up: less drama, more experiments. (Probably still a bit of drama though.)
[This episode was written at 8 a.m., during Martha’s first attempt to join the Hurdling Writing Club by Emily Ash Powell, in my dressing gown and with a lovely bunch of writers getting things done.]

Interesting reading, I would love to know more about your 12 week plan and resources
